SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA (February 26, 2025) – Legendary Korean rock band YB is set to push musical boundaries once again with the release of their first-ever metal album, ODYSSEY, on February 26, 2025. Marking a milestone in their remarkable 30-year career, ODYSSEY showcases YB’s fearless evolution in rock music. Further underlining their commitment to innovation, ODYSSEY will be released as a KiTalbum–a format that provides the benefits of a physical product with the accessibility of the digital experience. As a precursor to the complete album, YB also released their single “Rebellion (Feat. Xdinary Heroes)” in the KiTalbum format on February 5th, giving fans two back-to-back releases to enjoy.
Led by iconic frontman Yoon Do Hyun, YB has been a driving force in Korean rock since their debut in 1995. Originally known as “Yoon Do Hyun Band,” the group rebranded as YB in 2006, expanding their musical reach while maintaining their signature ability to captivate audiences across generations. With 10 full-length albums spanning hard rock, modern rock, and rock ballads, YB has remained a defining act in Korea’s music scene.
Among their most celebrated hits are Blue Whale (흰수염고래), I Guess I Loved You (사랑했나봐), and Peppermint Candy (박하사탕)—songs that continue to resonate deeply with fans. Even after three decades, YB remains one of Korea’s most active live bands, continually expanding their global presence. With groundbreaking performances at South by Southwest (SXSW) and as the first Korean band to perform on the Vans Warped Tour, YB has firmly established themselves as global rock icons.
With ODYSSEY, YB embarks on an ambitious exploration of metal, incorporating a hybrid sound rooted in heavy Djent influences. The album’s six tracks examine themes of self-discovery, inner conflict, and resistance against external pressures, offering an immersive and thought-provoking listening experience.
The album’s pre-released single, Rebellion (feat. Xdinary Heroes), was released as a KiTalbum on February 5th and has already generated significant buzz. This marks the band’s second collaboration with Xdinary Heroes, following their October 2024 track iNSTEAD! (Feat. YB Yoon Do Hyun) from Xdinary Heroes’ EP LIVE and FALL. The dynamic interplay between these two bands further reinforces their reputations as genre-defying artists.
In a move to innovate how fans engage with music, both Rebellion (feat. Xdinary Heroes) and ODYSSEY will be released in the KiTalbum format. Unlike traditional CDs, a KiTalbum utilizes a physical device that unlocks exclusive digital content, blending the analog and digital music experience. Since its introduction in 2017, the KiTalbum format has been adopted by major K-pop artists such as BLACKPINK and SEVENTEEN, as well as international stars including Duran Duran, Weezer, and Snoop Dogg.
